1. African Liberation Day and activities on this day

Firstly, let’s company with us to discover African Liberation Day and the characteristics of this occasion. To all of our African customers, this may be the time to commemorate such a meaningful event in their home country, and to customers all over the world, this is also a special event to learn about.

1.1. The history of African Liberation Day

African Liberation Day (ALD) is held on an annual basis around the world on May 25th.  One thing that should be mentioned was that ALD was founded in 1958 when the First Conference of Independent States was convened by Kwame Nkrumah and held in Accra, Ghana with the attendance of eight independent states of Africa. Symbolizing the determination of Africans to free themselves from foreign domination and exploitation is the main theme on this occasion, which made African political activists and leaders from a variety of African countries go to Ghana on April 15, 1958.

The conference was attended by representatives from eight independent states of Africa, and it was the first Pan-African conference there. The purpose of African Liberation Day was to mark the liberation movement and to commemorate the effort of African people to free themselves from exploitation and domination of foreign countries year by year.

Pan-African colors, which are popularly used for the African Liberation Day, utilize various sets of three colors: red, gold and green colors used in Ghana’s flag. Meanwhile, the red, black and green colors were adopted by the African Communities League and American-based Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA).

1.2. Activities to be celebrated during African Liberation Day

Nowadays, African Liberation Day is known as a permanent mass institution in the worldwide Pan-African movement. It becomes stronger because African people are stronger and have ALD in their hearts. On a day of political education and organization, African people not only obtained freedom but also reaffirmed their commitment to Pan-Africanism. ALD is also an occasion for deepening their understanding of other struggles and affirming their role in world socialism.

African communities in other countries also celebrate in some countries such as Maryland, the USA, North Arlington, etc to receive the opportunities to remember the great historical achievements of the Pan- Africanists, find fathers odd, and look forward to Africa’s development, peace, and security. Many supporting activities such as panel discussions and speeches by pan- Africanists political leaders, rallies, cultural entertainment, poetry, and university lectures, etc are brought to African people on this day.
